"I still have to remind myself that I am a work in progress, but one thing I have learned is to embrace my flaws. To embrace my body and size on every step of my journey to a healthy lifestyle"
The beautiful Australian native, Kristen Plati is determine to make her mark on the US entertainment industry. Kristen is a triple threat talent packing amazing skills as a singer/songwriter, actress and plus size model. As a cast member on the Bravo network show, "your husband is cheating on us," she showed that she can hold her own in front of the camera as a singer and actress. With her album, Find Me Lost, debuting on March 5th she's ready to show the world just what she's made of.
Growing up in Australia, a country known for its warm weather and beautiful beaches, Kristen spent a lot of time outdoors but quietly struggled with feeling confident. "I would always cover up when going to theme parks with friends or when I was supposed to be in a swimsuit around anyone. I remember thinking to myself, no one wants to see my body in a bathing suit. It wasn't until a few years ago that I bought my first bikini and went out in public without a shirt and shorts on." Since moving to New York and fearlessly pursuing her dreams she's found new confidence in herself she states, "now I have so many different bikinis and swimsuits that I get so excited to wear, I go to the beach confidently and excited!"
Kristen is now using her confidence and voice to help be an inspiration to other women who may be going through the same struggles. "Nothing feels better than reading comments and DMs from girls around the world who were/are bullied or made to feel less than because they are curvy, who say that I inspire them to dress how they want and embrace their bodies. I still have to remind myself that I am a work in progress, but one thing I have learned is to embrace my flaws. To embrace my body and size every step of my journey to a healthy lifestyle"
Even with her new found confidence she still struggled with self love and like other women, sometimes having good days and bad days but always try to push through. "Knowing that I played even the smallest part in a girl wanting to be herself and feel confident in her own body, keeps me pushing, even on the days where my self esteem gets the best of me."
"I can't force someone to love my body. I can't force anyone to accept me as I am. All I can do is love myself and be myself."
When asked how does she get through challenges and self doubt she states, " I spent my life hearing no, as so many people do. I learned that what is meant for me, will be for me! I can't force someone to love my body. I can't force anyone to accept me as I am. All I can do is love myself and be myself. I have learned to constantly be better, to be stronger and to more positive, that's the only way to get through it. Plus size isn't going to be for everyone, and that's ok."
Kristen acknowledges that having confidence in one self is much easier said than done but she insist, "no matter how many times someone tells you, "you can't do this" or "you can't wear that", it is your life and your body. If your clothing choices or if your self love offends someone else, chances are they still on their own journey to self love. We are all human and we all have flaws we see in ourselves - nobody is perfect. No body is perfect. It's about being healthy and living your life to make yourself happy."
When asked which Thick Wave suit is her favorite she states, " Sara - its sexy, comfortable, supportive and reversible. Its 2 swimsuits in one - how can you go wrong! Also, the colors are so cute!
